Vauxhall /Opel Vectra BTCC/STW Supertouring 97888

1997-002 Triple Eight Race Engineering Vauxhall Vectra Super Touring.

Piloted by Ex F1 Driver,'92 Le Mans and World sportscar champion and of course 888 Part Team owner Derek Warwick and John Cleland.

888 debuted this car at the 1997 Knockhill BTCC rounds and it completed the following four races of the season,then became the sole car entered for the 1997 Donington TT 'TouristTrophy' in October 97. The car then became the Test mule for the 1998 Season and received a total redesign on its rear suspension and Aero package.This particular chassis was chosen due to its low mileage and undamaged condition meaning any test would correlate correctly.

The seller purchased this and the complete package of 1997 888 chassis,equipment spares and team gear almost twenty years ago and has more recently completed a no expense spared/no time limit full restoration bring the car to a higher standard than it would have been in period, the car remains in the exact specification visually and mechanically as it would have raced in its final UK race in October 1997 Tourist Trophy.

The car had a full nut and bolt restoration, full strip and replacement with new or refreshed parts and remains with original last step Swindon engine and Xtrac 206 sequential gearbox. The motec M8 and PI research data logging remains with Ohlins '98 spec dampers all round.

Engine: Swindon SV024 50KM since full rebuild (Shakedown mileage only)

Gearbox : Xtrac 206b Internals checked/serviced new bearings and seals 2023 ( no track mileage since)

Suspension: Ohlins Front and rear new rebuild seals and rods, 50km only, pressure tested 2023.

Brakes: Ap racing calipers New seals,nipples pipes etc, New discs/pads and bells front and rear.Pedal box stripped and new seals,pipes and reseviors 2023. 

Fuel system: x4 New lift pumps x2 New Bosch 044 hp pumps,new filters and socks, New Bosch 5bar FPR.

Belts and extinguishers : New Willans Blue Fia EXP end 2027,New Lifeline extinguisher system with 5-way nozzles(x3 engine bay/x2 cockpit)pipes and electrical module and wiring.

In addition all four corners were stripped and refreshed with new bearing and powdercoat, wishbones were cracked tested, new set of wheel bearing/race internals new grease repacked 2023. A new V-shaped aluminum radiator was made and fitted also with pipework replaced.

The work done is endless and the parts removed have been kept to show this.

A substatial spares package also fully refreshed is available with the car, for example Xtrac gearbox,Differential 50+Ratios x3sets Oz Racing wheels,doors/panels,splitters and undertray/shields,rollbars,hubs uprights wishbones etc,Motec M8 Ecu/Pi logger ,laptop to communicate to the car. 

Please don't confuse this with many tired or previously retired/scrapped chassis that are about,this car is offered for sale for the first time in the UK and is only available for a limited time.
